The SAQA Mini Quilt Trunk Show
For those who might enjoy a creative interlude, visit Canada Beading Supply to see a trunk show of little art quilts by the Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA).
SAQA has over 3400 members around the world. In 2014, SAQA put together their third trunk show to showcase SAQA’s diversity of talent as part of its mission to “promote the art quilt through education, exhibitions, professional development, documentation, and publications.”
A number of members contributed 7″x10″ art pieces showing their interpretation of the theme “What is a quilt?” From the 407 contributions, 8 “trunks” of 51 pieces each were formed, and will be circulating until 2017.
The trunk show presents a wonderful array of styles, techniques and fibers. Each mini “quilt” has the artist’s location, artwork title and information about techniques and materials used on the back. Previous “trunks” have been showcased in the Ottawa area and all who saw them found them inspirational.
The art pieces will be at Canada Beading Supply until March 26 with the exception of Feb. 28, March 4, 10 and Mar. 21. If you come this week, the Valentine Sale is still on until Saturday
